Agronomic Features

Lionheart has a low nitrogen requirement, producing and maintaining a full canopy even after 120 days. Drought and heat tolerance is excellent, performing well both in the UK and in Mediterranean style climates. Lionheart has superior resistances both to internal and external defects caused by heat stress – IRS, hollow heart, cracking. Lionheart has early sugar stability with low levels of sucrose and glucose giving excellent fry colour (USDA 00), combined with long dormancy this means Lionheart can be processed off the field or throughout the storage season.

Crop Quality

Lionheart is a very high yielding maincrop variety, producing large long oval tubers with light yellow flesh, good dry matter and excellent fry colour, ideally suited to French fry production.
